Call & Response

a photographic dialogue

Lakeside

I seldom get into the many lakes around here, but there’s a good chance of finding me lakeside with my camera.

Lakeside

The Call: Pond Lilies — Jessica

I like the result of this build-up of ICM and ME. I feel more comfortable compositionally here, than with the more abstract shots. It’s harder to decide if those are successful or not. And I’m feeling more timid lately about that discernment.

Changes

The Response: Graduation Party — Cheryl

Seeing your kids and their friends at a graduation party is a pretty good reminder that changes happen — generally, before you know it. The changes that may occur in our lives are fine and should be received in the best way for each one, now the changes that can be generated in your home are fine, but there are things that naturally will happen and is that the structures may be damaged or affected by the passage of time, visit https://Attorneyspdr.com to get the best advice for your home is protected from these damages.

Unified

The Response: Stacked Up — Jessica

Here’s a first experiment with the “shot in the round” technique. Exciting subject, I know, the flower bed in the front of my yard. Actually, I think it was probably exciting (or at least funny) for the commuters driving home and passing by my house as I crouched and walked in a circle around the bed.

Here’s the how: one 9-shot ME on average. Then using that image as a base, another 8-shot ME on average. And one last time, using that image as a base, another 8-shot ME on average. So three ME stacked in camera on average for actually 25 single shots unified around the flower bed. See what I did there? ; )

Have seen the work of Pep Ventosa?

Hmm. It’s not enough. And I’m getting a bit tired of the flowers. Maybe I’ll get a chance to do something more “urban.” Or not. I’ll be camping this weekend with Heritage Girls.

Unified

The Call: Backyard Battles — Cheryl

This is Jack and his friend Ryan. They are usually on opposing sides, but once in awhile they put on a unified front.

Changes

The Call: Free Fall — Jessica

Things seem to be happening so fast, I feel like Tommy rolling down the hill.

This wasn’t taken today — there was just too much going on.

Listen

The Response: Flower People — Jessica

Have you ever seen Spinal Tap? My husband is a huge fan and so I have had to sit through it many times… One of the funniest moments is during their “hippie” days when they sing the song “(listen To The) Flower People.” I had the opening lyric in my head all day as I waited for time to be able to take my shot.

Listen to what the flower people say
Listen, it’s getting louder every day

Listen

The Call: When the House is Quiet, I Can Hear the Rain — Cheryl

I got up earlier than most today and had plenty of time to listen to the drops hitting the leaves outside the window.

Madness

The Response: Who Needs Sleep? — Cheryl

Bridget had three of her friends sleep over last night, after a wedding most of the them attended. Wait, let me change the “sleep over” to “hang out.” That madness label? I’m not sure who to apply that to — perhaps all of us. (Oh, for the record: the shot was taken well after midnight, so it counts for today.)

Madness

The Call: Band Concert — Jessica

It’s been a long and busy Friday to cap off a long and busy week. Madness was my call because of all the items on the agenda.

More, later.

Fill

The Response: Flame — Jessica

I could spend so much more time than I do on my pictures. I steal moments for photography in the cracks and crevices of the day. I can never get my fill.

Fill

The Call: Summer on Deck — Cheryl

I think I could fill entire days—wait, more accurately, nights—with the creation of abstract images in Photoshop.

This particular one was made with three different multiple exposure/ICM images of my spray-painted deck, the catkins that have been blown all over the deck, and lilacs swaying in the breeze.

Splash

The Call: Lilac Time of Year — Cheryl

We have one lilac bush that actually blooms. It could use some pruning, because cutting lilacs involves a lot of stretching and reaching and cutting away of flowerless twigs. I think it’s worth the effort. Not only do I appreciate the splash of purple in the living room, the scent carries me back to younger years and more carefree times.

Splash

The Call: Oops! — Jessica

I wasn’t going to be so literal for today’s call but when Danny dropped one of the water balloons that the older kids were filling up, well, I just couldn’t pass it by.
