With a bunch of help from Photoshop. First of all, it’s natural light; no flash. I selected Luke and the table, chose “invert selection,” and added Gaussian blur to the background. I converted to black and white, adjusting various color filters, added a touch of wind, and tweaked brightness/contrast. Simple as that! ; ) All of the adjustments were driven by the need to declutter the background.

Ah! My first guess was flash, but I couldn’t tell what direction…looks like you’ve really been playing in Photoshop! : )
