A little over two weeks into it and I have to say it’s been easier than I expected. Maybe because I’m being a lot less demanding of myself this time and maybe because I’ve really gotten use to have a camera with me at most times. It’s easier to “see” pictures through out the day. For example, I was making a quick last-minute run to the store for a birthday gift after dropping my son off at the party (yeah, THAT last minute) when I drove by the Reston community garden with the afternoon sun lighting it up. A ha — my picture for the day! And immediately pulled over and grabbed it. Yeah, I felt pretty ridiculous standing on my van to get the height I wanted, but whatever! At this point anything for the shot, right?
Mary’s Garden is my favorite of the month for several reasons. I love the distortion of the old glass and I love the “hidden” feel of the garden – as if it’s a secret retreat tucked away from sight.
I love this shot and am now going to have a look at other photos on your blog, it all looks so interesting.
There really is a lot of magic in a secret garden. You did such a good job of capturing it.
Oh my gosh. I feel like I am a fairy peeking through the windows of my mushroom house!
I’m so glad you are finding your journey getting easier. Having it become second nature is an enviable accomplishment. “Seeing” the pictures is fabulous! Getting the shot to reflect what you see is hard. I think that’s where I get frustrated the most. I see in my mind’s eye what I want but it doesn’t come out that way.
I’ve been rear in the air on the side of the highway, straddling the window of my car door and even nestled in my trunk with the tripod planted in front of me to get “the shot”. I might recommend getting a reflective vest or locating a few orange cones use when you find yourself in a potentially dangerous shot scenario (like straddling the car window, with one foot on the roof, hanging over as far as you can….lol)
I’m hooked. I will have to check out the rest of your work. Thank you for sharing.:)
Love it! Anything for the shot. 🙂
The secret garden is one of my favorite books. You did a great job capturing that feeling.
Thanks for all your kind comments! I’m so happy I found you all! It will be nice to have the support of such a dedicated group when the 365 going gets harder. I’m under no illusion that it will be easy all the way through — you know? Life has a way of getting in the way! ; )
What lovely framing on your secret garden shot. A lovely serene image. I laughed imagining you on the roof of your van. I often find myself in some distored pose and later wonder what people must think. Oh who cares….all for the shot. Happy day to you.
I agree with you – it has a secret quality about it that I love. See, I wouldn’t think to catch this perspective and I’m loving checking out all these wonderful photos, because I’m learning something new every day. Oh, and The Secret Garden is a lovely movie/book too!
