My husband gave me this beautiful statue of Our Lady holding baby Jesus for my birthday. I was pregnant with our fifth child and looking for some inspiration! I’ve always loved the way Mary is holding the little baby’s hand and just the gracefulness of the drapings of her dress and head covering.
This Easter will mark my 21st year of being Catholic. My husband was my sponsor many years ago and continues to support me in my faith — which is, of course, another gift.
What a wonderful post, Jessica. Congratulations on your 21st year. I was raised Catholic, had my faith strengthened at St. Anselm College, and solidified through my marriage to Dennis, my job as reporter for “The Denver Catholic Register,” and through homeschooling.
Your photo, as always, is wonderful. I love the clarity at the center and the distortion at the edges. It seems like a metaphor for faith in God, which gives life clarity at the center, where it’s most important.
I bought a copy of “Photoshop Creative” at Barnes & Noble, but haven’t gotten far with it. Thanks for the recommendation. The price at B&N was only a buck or two more than buying it on ebay, once I factored in shipping.
You worked at the *Denver Register*? That pretty neat! The “official” home
of George Weigel’s column — I worked for a few years for EPPC as the web
editor.
