Welcome, June!
So long, May! Please don’t bother to come back again. You’ve definitely out worn your welcome…
Why must every school year end like this? Parties, concerts, picnics, field days, sports parties, band and choir competitions, teacher gifts, coach gifts, ad nauseum…
Really people? Maybe I’m just being grumpy but when you multiply all that by multiple kids it just gets so out of hand.
Anyway, that’s what happened to my poor 365 project. May, quite literally, ATE it!
I’ve been pondering how to restart it since I had to stop. Should I just leave May as a hole? Should I start the counting for the June 1st shot as though I hadn’t missed any? I think that would make it #198. But it wouldn’t really be shot #198. And that bothers me. But then I do get to end the project on my 42nd birthday — which is significant to me.
On the other hand, I could number the June 1st shot as #158. That is more honest, but then the end gets delayed until close to Christmas. Christmas is just as deadly for me as May. Not only do I have Christmas stuff going on I also have birthdays for 4 of my 6 kids. (Yeah I know, I stink at timing!)
What would you do?
OK, I’ve been thinking on this since I saw your flickr post. It is YOUR project. YOU can number them in any way you’d like 🙂 Make it end on your birthday, don’t skip any numbers, and make it 325 project instead of a 365 project. Celebrate the ending number no matter what it is! It does not HAVE to be 365. JUST AN IDEA form an over active brain. AND, welcome back 🙂
I know just what you mean about end-of-the-school-year “stuff”.

Ha! I like that — I can have my cake and eat it too! : )
Thanks for the encouragement. : )
I say, end it on your birthday! 🙂
My kids are older now, and although there is a lot I miss about them being younger, the end of the school year is NOT one of those things! I do not know how you do it with 6. Bless you!!! 🙂
End of school year here in England is 3rd week of July, which coincides with most of us gallavanting off to somewhere in Southern Europe, or beyond, to experience Summer – I think that’s what the phenonomen of hot sunny days and warm balmy nights is called. My daughters are grown up career girls now; end of school year long committed to memory…. but never forgotton! You could number the shots from 198 with a (-1). 198(-1) keeps the numbering consecutive and ends on your Birthday so you can have a double celebration with a few bottles of the bubbly stuff. xx
What an absolutely stunning image. Love the simplicity..the color. And such sweet subject matter!!!
Jessica,
I’m just happy to see your wonderful photos and read your interesting blog posts again. I find it fascinating that you’ve given so much thought to when you’re project will end. I’m NOT a planner. I just start something, then take the next step, …
Even though we homeschool, this time of year is not much fun for us either (but not nearly as busy as yours). Have you ever considered homeschooling? Not having your life ruled by a school schedule is wonderful. Anyway, we have four of our six kids playing baseball/softball.
I love that capture!
Don’t beat yourself up over it. Make the project work for YOU, not the other way around! 😉
Thanks, Jill. After some thought I came to the same conclusion. I’m the master of the 365–not its slave. : )

I like these turtles. The color is so unusual. May was horrible this year! I was glad to see it go too.
