inspire: words for photographers
The compositional dance is about figuring out a way to move you and your camera, which in turn moves the smallest of details inside your viewfinder for maximum visual impact. You can make use of all photographic techniques to create the atmosphere or emotion you are feeling and want to transmit. It’s about recognizing and understanding what it is that attracted you to the subject matter in the first place, and then determining—through concentration and instinct—how best to communicate those feelings through the photograph. — by Steve Simon
***On a side note, please pardon the dust around here. I spent a better part of the weekend trying out new themes for the blog. It was a long and convoluted process of trying one on and then tossing it aside for another. Once I found one that I “sorta” liked, it was time to get out the needle and thread and hem and tuck in and let out all over the place. I’m never satisfied with a theme straight off the shelf and I can drive myself batty with all the little “alterations.” Especially when I can’t figure out why the background color ISN’T changing or why the text is all wonky and not the same in different blocks. It’s doing the theme dance and trying to remember what I liked about the theme in the first place! ; ) (How’s that for tying it all together??)
You did a good job of tying it all together! I love that sewing metaphor, and I really like the new theme. I just picked a new one for my blog, but I’m not sure I’ll stick with it. I also redesigned my website, because — you know — I always have too much time on my hands. ; )
