A Six-Week Live Study · Thursdays This Fall
Under Mary’s Mantle · The Feminine Soul
At heart, this is the role of the Christian. Single, married, divorced, or widowed, we imitate Mary who brings forth the Messiah. Often there are obstacles and barriers we could not imagine. But God has called us.
“When we meditate on the path of the Mother of God, from Candlemas to Good Friday, we will find therein a path to inner serenity.”
St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross
Ask a room of Catholic women who is holy, and an uncomfortable silence will ensue.
That reaction points to an essential humility that is still a part of our Church today. We do know we ought not boast about the gifts of God. But what if you are enduring a season of suffering? What if you fear that your paltry faith is just not up to the challenges you face? What if your silence is imposed by fear or sorrow?
Mary shows us the way to find a comfortable silence. A silence in which pondering is expected. A silence that recognizes the seeds that will grow if we nurture them. Mary perfectly embodies the feminine vocation, and calls us to build the virtues that will last.
Over six weeks, we are going to take our place at Mary’s hearth and learn from her. She is meek and humble of heart, but still, her vocation requires a courageous heart and an inquiring mind. With the self-discipline of virtue, we will learn how to be obedient to the prompting of the Holy Spirit as she was.
Each session runs about an hour: teaching, Scripture, and real discussion. You will not be lectured at for sixty minutes.
An introduction to God’s great love for creation and the divine image we bear.
The Holy Spirit offers a loving relationship with Jesus Christ, the Bridegroom of our souls.
“Mary conceived Jesus in her heart before she conceived Him in her womb,” said St. Augustine.
God created you with special gifts that will come to fruition under the mantle of Mary.
Every woman has been wounded by love, and yet the Church offers a profound path of healing.
The collapse of the family and a media-driven culture have shredded authentic relationships. Motherhood is the answer.

Genevieve Kineke converted to the faith as a young adult, and has written and spoken extensively on the topic of authentic femininity. Always seeking to combine theological realities with the mundane details of everyday life, she founded a quarterly journal in 1992, Canticle Magazine. She has appeared numerous times on various EWTN shows, and is a frequent guest on Relevant Radio. She has been widely published in periodicals including Homiletic and Pastoral Review, Our Sunday Visitor, Catholic World Report, and Inside the Vatican, and is a frequent speaker at Catholic women’s conferences.
Genevieve was widowed after 35 years of marriage and has five children and nine grandchildren. She lives in Connecticut.
This course outlines her distinctive presentation of the feminine genius, as first articulated by Pope St. John Paul II. She believes that women are called to change the world, one soul at a time.
This online course is conducted as a webinar on Zoom. Each session is a thirty minute lecture followed by extensive discussion. Participants receive all handouts electronically, and a copy of Genevieve’s book, The Authentic Catholic Woman, second edition.
